In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.
Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing registered nurse.
Minimum 2 years of recent critical care nursing experience or completion of an accredited critical care course.
Demonstrated arrhythmia interpretation ability with a minimum score of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is an asset.
Continuous renal replacement therapy experience or training is an asset.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
Ability to work effectively with internal and external contacts.
