About the role

The Registered Nurse will plan, implement, and evaluate care for pediatric patients with acute illnesses in an outpatient clinic setting. They will also collaborate with interprofessional teams and stakeholders to improve patient flow and provide educational resources to families.

Closing Date

EOD August 28th What we are looking for: As a Registered Nurse in the clinic you will work with a paediatrician to plan, implement and evaluate the care of select paediatric patients with acute illness requiring consultation and follow up care. Working in an outpatient setting, you will perform assessments and provide clinical care for ill ambulatory paediatric patients. You will also participate in the development of policies and procedures related to best practice, deliver educational sessions and act as a resource to patients/families. Your role will also encompass working with internal and external stakeholders such as the Emergency Department and community paediatricians. In this capacity you will participate in interprofessional clinic rounds, assist with evaluation and implementation of changes to patient flow from the Emergency Department and community. What you bring to Oak Valley Health: Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses; BScN preferred Current BLS certification A minimum of three years of recent experience in a pediatric setting RNAO membership is preferred Excellent physical assessment, teaching, and discharge planning skills Working knowledge of computer technology Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required Work Schedule: Every Friday 9-5 pm, two weekends in a 6 week period for a total of 10 shifts in 6 weeks. Please note weekend shifts are 10-4 pm. Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses and BLS certification. A minimum of three years of recent pediatric experience is required, with a BScN preferred.
