We’re looking for an experienced Family Intervention Worker to work collaboratively with various groups to strengthen family relationships, promote stability, and support youth. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with caregivers, schools, service providers, and community partners to strengthen family relationships, improve communication, promote stability, and support youth to remain safely in or reunify with the family home whenever possible. This position also assists in connecting families to appropriate community supports as applicable. The non-standard work schedule is generally Monday to Friday but weekend and evening work is required to meet the needs of youth and families.
The ideal candidate has at least two years of recent experience providing services to youth, preferably youth aged 12-18 and their families and a Diploma in Child and Youth Care or its equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Access to a reliable, insured vehicle and a valid B.C. driver’s licence is required.
This individual brings strong knowledge of adolescent development, family systems, trauma-informed practice, and family preservation approaches. Skilled in assessment, case management, crisis response, advocacy, and service planning, they effectively engage youth and families facing complex barriers. They demonstrate excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities, with a culturally sensitive and collaborative approach. Highly adaptable and solution-focused, they can manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain strong partnerships while utilizing electronic client record systems and standard office technology.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
