Job Description

Aberdeen Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist for a short-term assignment from August to December 2026. Join Nova Scotia's thriving healthcare ecosystem, where your expertise is valued and your contributions drive innovative, compassionate care for generations to come.

Responsibilities

Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities. Work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients of Northern Zone. Surgical services include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT participating in on-call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called Expected Hours Short-term Assignment Full-Time includes Evenings and Weekend Call Coverage Remuneration Locum - Guaranteed Daily Rate Locum physicians provide coverage for specialists. Compensation includes a minimum daily income guarantee of $1,600 for specialists ($800 for half-day), with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions. Learn more about Aberdeen Regional Hospital: Aberdeen Hospital (AH), originally founded in 1895 and located in the historic town of New Glasgow, is the regional acute care facility serving residents of Pictou County. Completed in 2017, the emergency department at AH underwent an extensive redevelopment to improve the layout and workflow of the existing space. All rooms are equipped with critical care equipment, and the 25,000 square-foot space features two isolation rooms and specialty rooms including triage rooms and two trauma bays with direct access to the helipad. The Level 2 emergency department provides 24/7 access to emergency services. Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada(RCPSC) Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
