Reporting to the Clinical Manager in Mental Health, the RN will be part of the multidisciplinary team that offers crisis intervention, assessment and treatment for children and adolescents who have complex and severe mental health issues. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients and families Function in an “in charge” role when required Participate in the development and implementation of inpatient programming Offer support/counselling to individual patients and their families Provide appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family Offer mentoring experience to students and new staff Conduct mental health assessments of those children/youth and their families Liaise with the CHEO Emergency Department staff and psychiatry on-call services Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in the identification and referrals to appropriate resources upon discharge from the ED
