This position involves on call and may include evening and weekend hours.

Position Summary

In keeping with the mission statement and philosophy of the hospital, the successful candidate will function as a member of the health care team, observe, provide patient care and treatment for patients undergoing medical imaging tests and procedures. The clinically competent, registered nurse will deliver care to patients through the nursing process while administering, monitoring, evaluating and documenting patient outcomes during procedural sedations, general anaesthesia or during any other required diagnostic and interventional exam. The Registered nurse will: Provide nursing support for GI/GU, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath, CT, NM, MRI, and the Main Radiology Department. Participate in all aspects of cross training within Medical Imaging Nursing (MRI, CT, NM GI/GU, Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath) Assist staff with pre-admission and discharge processes for the multi-modality Diagnostic Imaging Department Be present in MI Procedure Rooms and participate in Medical Imaging/Radiation procedures wearing lead apparel Participate in on call schedule The candidate will be a radiation worker and will be expected to be present in examination rooms while radiological procedures are being carried out.

Qualifications

Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Current Ontario Registration with the College of Nurses (Essential) Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred) B.Sc.N (Preferred) Minimum 3 years’ pediatric experience, or other appropriate combinations of education and experience along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated experience and education (Essential) Experience in CHEO Radiology (Preferred) Knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging modalities (Preferred) CPR Certification (Essential) Venipuncture and Central Line Certification (Preferred) Hemodynamic monitoring experience (Preferred) Airway Management training and experience (Preferred) Experience in Patient Sedation and Anesthesia (Preferred) Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) (Preferred) Demonstrates Positive Interpersonal Skills (Essential) Demonstrated availability for the DI PSU (Essential) Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team approach (Essential) *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Nurses Association, (ONA). Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider.
