About the role

The RPN will provide nursing care in accordance with established standards, physician orders, and administrative policies. They are responsible for assessing patients, developing care plans, and monitoring changes in health conditions.

Job Description

Union Name: CUPE Union Local: 4788 Union Classification (Title): RPN or LPN as applicable Salary: RPN Visit Rate Nursing Schedule: As per collective agreement Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required For both Non- Union and Union jobs, the below description will apply: General Responsibilities 1) Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, as well as, observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents / patients. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care 2) Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review and evaluate care plans. Monitor health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physicians’ orders

Qualifications

1) Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province 2) Registration or eligible for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province 3) Previous managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare preferred 4) Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired 5) Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as Knowledge in Infection Control Practices 6) Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors 7) Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally whether in person or over the phone, and in writing; an active listener who projects a friendly demeanour 8) Ability to collect and use information to thoroughly think through problems and situations; puts information from various sources together to see the ‘big picture’ and generate creative solutions 9) Organizational, planning, time management and multi-tasking skills Time Type: Part time At Extendicare, we’ve spent more than 50 years dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care homes across Canada. Requirements
