This established team is part of a larger provincial service and collaborates with social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and contractors to provide direct client care. The Role The Psychiatric Social Worker plays a key role in a team that supports young people in the justice system. They provide mental health assessments and treatment services, including individual, group, and family counseling. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the objective is to jointly enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging youth through a closer to home focus. This work is critical in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion by addressing the unique needs of each young person.

Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level (equivalency required if obtained outside Canada).
Successful MSW candidates must seek and obtain clinical registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) within 6 months of completing required 3000 hours of supervised clinical practice.
Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience in an adolescent mental health environment providing outpatient-oriented assessment and treatment services.
Valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent.
Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) required.
