About the role

The Registered Veterinary Technician will provide emergency and critical care to small animal patients, including triage, surgical assistance, and diagnostic testing. They will also manage patient monitoring, medication administration, and client counseling while contributing to a collaborative hospital team.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Fairfield Animal Hospital

$27–34 CAD/hr based on experience, with premiums for evening, weekend and overnight shifts

Full-time and part-time opportunities in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

Schedule

4 on, 4 off rotation, including evenings, weekends, and rotating overnights (typically one month per year). Open to candidates interested in overnights only. Full-time and part-time positions considered based on staffing needs.

In your day-to-day, you will

  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Assist the veterinarian before, during, and after surgery
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinarian direction
  • Provide nursing care and monitoring for emergency and critical care patients
  • Perform ongoing triage assessment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Produce diagnostic radiographs and CT scans, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests
  • Provide wound and bandage care
  • Assist with blood transfusions
  • Counsel clients on animal health care
  • Help mentor visiting practicum students and peers
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture
