About the role

Provide clinical and technical support for animal patients, including assisting with surgeries, dental treatments, and physical examinations. Manage diagnostic testing, patient monitoring, and client communication regarding treatment plans and preventive care.

Job Summary Provide clinical and technical support for animal patients in a veterinary setting.

Perform diagnostic testing, patient monitoring, and client education to support veterinary care.

Number of Positions 1 Main Duties Assist veterinarians during physical examinations, surgical procedures and dental treatments.

Administer and monitor anesthesia and analgesia under the direction of a veterinarian.

Collect, label and process diagnostic samples and perform routine laboratory tests.

Monitor hospitalized patients, record observations, and carry out prescribed treatments and medications.

Communicate with clients regarding preventive care, treatment plans and post-procedure instructions.

Maintain medical records, sterilize instruments, and manage clinic supplies and inventory.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited animal health technologist or veterinary technician program or equivalent post-secondary training. Registration or eligibility for registration with the provincial regulatory body where required. Practical experience in a veterinary clinical setting or internship with exposure to clinical and surgical procedures. Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, follow safety protocols, and complete routine cleaning and sterilization procedures.
