About the role

Veterinarians will provide medical, surgical, and preventive care to animal patients in clinical and field settings. They are responsible for diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and maintaining accurate medical records while coordinating with support staff.

Diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and communicate care recommendations to owners and support staff.

Number of Positions 4 Main Duties Examine animals to assess health status, identify diseases or injuries, and order diagnostic tests as required.

Diagnose conditions and develop individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies.

Perform surgical procedures and manage anesthesia, perioperative care, and postoperative monitoring.

Provide preventive care services such as vaccinations, parasite control, nutritional counselling, and wellness exams.

Educate and counsel animal owners on treatment plans, preventive health measures, behaviour, and husbandry.

Maintain accurate medical records, coordinate patient care with veterinary technicians and support staff, and respond to urgent or emergency cases as needed.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Registration, licensure, or eligibility for registration with the appropriate provincial or territorial veterinary regulatory body. Relevant clinical experience in companion, large animal, or mixed practice settings; experience level may vary by position. Demonstrated competence in surgical procedures, anesthesia protocols, and common diagnostic techniques. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and support staff. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, manage multiple cases, and participate in on-call or emergency rotations as required. Required Skills Clinical diagnostic reasoning and case management Surgical technique and anesthesia monitoring Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and laboratory procedures Client education and effective verbal/written communication Teamwork and practice leadership with veterinary support staff Time management and ability to prioritize urgent clinical needs
