About the role

Assist cooks with blending, grinding, slicing, preparing salads and vegetables, preparing sandwiches, and portioning desserts.

Measure and combine food and beverage ingredients.

Set up and portion patient trays and/or resident meals with accuracy, including therapeutic diet items according to nutrition care plans.

Check patient trays to ensure accuracy.

Prepare items such as tea, coffee and toast.

Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils and perform general cleaning.

Serve staff meals.

Oversee collection and receipt of cash for items purchased, which may include punching meal tickets

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Food Service Worker to fill a Casual position at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and working within the scope of Northern Health (NH) Regional Policies and Processes, the NH Regional Food Safety Plan and the NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position assists the Cooks, blending, grinding, slicing, preparing salads, vegetables, sandwiches, and portioning desserts, measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients. Grade 10 with one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities:
