Provide daily direct care for assigned cardiology patients in the Cardiac Intervention Unit pre and post area.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in compliance with the scope of practice.
Continuously modify the plan of care based on evaluation of outcomes.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop, review, modify, and update the patient’s plan of care.
Communicate changes in patient status to MRP and Resource/Charge Nurse Professional Care.

Complete workload measurement.
Ensure timely acceptance of patients using PULL methodology and support patient flow reduction.
Participate in rounds/communication boards/daily communication per unit requirements.
Identify barriers to daily patient flow and participate in interprofessional plans to meet Expected Date of Discharge (EDD).
Support hospital mission/values and participate in committees and nursing professional practice activities.
Support nursing policies/procedures and ensure effective utilization of supplies, equipment, space, and human resources.

Reporting to the Cardiac Intervention Unit & Cardiac Care Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible for the provision of optimal care for Cardiology patients undergoing various procedures within a cardiac intervention unit & pre/post procedure area. The position available is for working in the Catheterization Lab.
Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
Critical Care Certificate preferred or completion within two years of hire.
Coronary Care I & II required.
Current BCLS required.
Current ACLS required.
Pass an arrhythmia screening quiz with 80% to move to interview.
Minimum one (1) year critical care experience (or equivalent ED/CCU or ICU experience) required.
Previous Cardiac Intervention Unit experience required for Cath Lab vacancies.
Previous pre and post experience required for pre & post area vacancies.
Aortic hemodynamic monitoring experience required.
Groin management experience required.
Pacemaker device analyzing/programming experience required.
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump experience preferred.
Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography, and rhythm interpretation required.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
