About the role

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing complex diagnostic imaging procedures according to radiologist protocols and maintaining MRI equipment. They must also ensure safety, cleanliness, and quality control within the MRI department while assisting in the training of new staff.

Insight is currently seeking an MRI Technologist to join the dynamic and expanding team at our Meadowlark Clinic. This is a full time position on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension, and a schedule of Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and performs a variety of standardized and/or complex procedures as set forth by the Radiologists protocol.
  • Responsible for the operation and basic maintenance of all MRI equipment.
  • Monthly QA of all coils with System Check.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety, general, and cleanliness of the MRI area with particular attention to MRI safety and infection control.
  • Knowledge of computer system and all office duties.
  • Assist in the instruction of new staff and students as requested. Attention to procedures and department orientation and MRI safety.
  • Maintains quality control in performance of all procedures.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRI procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members and patients.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot any equipment problems.
  • Must be able to work rapidly and in stressful situations demonstrating good judgement and decision making.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the ACMDTT/CAMRT
  • CPR certified
  • Must have knowledge of MRI contrast agents, use, dosage, and contraindications.
  • Enhanced practice for venipuncture
