About the role

Assist the Medical Technologists with the operation of the Laboratory.. Perform a variety of duties to support the Laboratory department under general supervision of Manager or designate.

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Laboratory department. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties to assist the Medical Technologists with the operation of the Laboratory. Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30 Qualfications

Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

Ability to type at 25 w. p. m.
