  • Type: Salary Come work as a Family Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Seize the opportunity to be part of meaningful transformation in patients’ lives! We are looking for passionate family physicians with interest in addiction medicine to work in support recovery. VCH Specialized Substance Use Services provides medical support to multiple Support Recovery/Bed-Based Substance Use Treatment Programs in Vancouver. Physicians in our program provide primary care for patients in recovery while they are admitted to the treatment centre for 28-90 days.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience: Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory Applicants need to have completed the Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) course and preceptorship and be able to prescribe opioid agonist therapy (OAT). One of the following addiction medicine credentials are required: Certification through the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine; Certification through the American Society of Addiction Medicine; Certification through the International Society of Addiction Medicine; Certification through the American Board of Addiction Medicine;Completion of the BC Centre on Substance Use Addictions Medicine Fellowship program; Certificate of Added Competency in Addiction Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada; or An Area of Focused Competence (Diploma) program in Addiction Medicine accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Requirements

Applicants must hold a current College of Physicians of BC license and have completed the Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program. Additionally, candidates must possess a recognized addiction medicine credential or fellowship certification.
