About the role

The Registered Practical Nurse will provide direct care to clients experiencing acute mental health and addiction disorders within a 25-bed inpatient unit. Responsibilities include facilitating group programming, mentoring students, and participating in program development and research activities.

CCC-6 is an exciting inpatient service within the Clinical Care (CCC) program at CAMH, and is seeking a Part-time (0.45) FTE, Registered Practical Nurse to join the team.

CCC-6 is a 25-bed unit (20 general bed+ 5 bed PICU), that provides support to clients who are 18+ experiencing the acute phase of a mental and/or addictions disorder.

You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in reflective practice sessions; facilitate group programming on the unit; provide mentorship and supervision to students and participate in the research activities for the program.

Successful candidates are well supported by unit leadership team, the Advance Practice Clinical Leader and Manager, during their orientation.

Unit orientation focuses on developing and refining the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively on an acute general psychiatric unit.

Staff are expected to practice safely and in accordance to the Practice Standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Canadian Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (CFMHN).

Requirements

Candidates must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate. Preference is given to those with psychiatric nursing experience and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
