We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in Fort St. John. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centred care model. The RN/RPN provides ongoing intensive outreach nursing care, case management and mental health and substance use support services for assigned clients, whether they are in hospital, residential or other community settings. Designs, implements, and monitors individual treatment plans to maximize community functioning and reduce re-hospitalization. Works in close association with inter-professional community mental health and substance use staff, emergency services, Indigenous partners, and community service providers. Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, 08:00 to 19:12 (rotating) Qualfications
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.
Minimum 2 years nursing experience in mental health and substance use programming or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid BC drivers license. Skills and Abilities:
Ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate / prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
Ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
Ability to create culturally safe, trauma informed health care settings through individualized care planning and collaborative approaches to service provisions, including Indigenous health services if possible.
Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
