About the role

Provide specialized respiratory and cardiopulmonary care to patients in acute and chronic settings. This includes managing mechanical ventilators, operating perfusion equipment during cardiac surgery, and performing diagnostic tests.

Job Summary Provide specialized respiratory and cardiopulmonary care to patients in acute and chronic settings.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, treat, and monitor cardiopulmonary function and support during diagnostic and surgical procedures.

Number of Positions 4 Main Duties Assess patient respiratory and cardiopulmonary status, obtain relevant history, and monitor vital signs and clinical indicators.

Operate and manage mechanical ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and deliver adjunct respiratory therapies and aerosolized medications.

Set up, operate, and monitor extracorporeal circulation and perfusion equipment during cardiac surgery and related procedures as applicable.

Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas sampling, spirometry, pulmonary function testing, and interpret results to guide treatment.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to develop and implement care plans and provide patient and family education on therapies.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation, perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited program in respiratory therapy, clinical perfusion, or cardiopulmonary technology. Registration or certification with the applicable provincial regulatory or credentialing body where required by practice location. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications where applicable. Demonstrated clinical experience in acute care, critical care, or operating room environments; recent hands-on experience preferred. Proven ability to operate cardiopulmonary and perfusion equipment and perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis. Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills with the ability to work flexible shifts and respond to urgent situations.
