Assist dentists with all aspects of dentistry performed in the Outpatient Clinic or Dental Operating Room.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of dental and medical health records and complete statistics for the Outpatient Department and Operating Room.
Maintain dental instruments and equipment and appropriate levels of dental supplies, linen, stores and pharmacy supplies.
Expose and process analogue and digital diagnostic quality dental radiographs.
Make dental impressions, prepare models, and perform related laboratory duties.
Perform prophylaxis, fluoride and fissure sealant procedures.
Demonstrate preventative techniques to patients in clinics within and outside the hospital.
Assist with maintenance of quality assurance standards and their documentation.

Graduation from a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program plus one (1) year’s recent, related experience (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Current registration and licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant as required under the Dentist Act.
Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within BC Children’s Hospital contexts (including TRC Calls to Action, In Plain Sight, BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, UNDRIP, and related commitments).
Core competencies aligned with Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility, including commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and to engage in anti-racism education and training.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
