Job Summary Provide comprehensive eye care services including examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of visual and ocular conditions.
Collaborate with other health professionals to ensure continuity of care and educate patients on vision correction and eye health.
Number of Positions 2 Main Duties Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction and evaluation of visual function.
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and visual disorders, initiating treatment or referring to other healthcare providers as required.
Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, advising patients on lens selection, care and adaptation.
Prescribe and manage ophthalmic medications within scope of practice and monitor treatment outcomes.
Operate and interpret results from diagnostic equipment such as slit lamp, tonometry and retinal imaging.
Maintain accurate patient records, develop follow-up plans and provide patient education on preventive eye care.
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Registration or eligibility for licensure with the provincial or territorial optometry regulator. Demonstrated clinical experience in primary eye care, including refraction and ocular disease management. Proficiency with diagnostic instruments and electronic health record systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to adhere to professional, ethical and safety standards in clinical practice. Required Skills Comprehensive eye examination and refraction techniques. Clinical diagnosis and management of ocular disease. Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging and instruments. Prescription and fitting of spectacles and contact lenses. Patient education, counseling and care planning. Clinical documentation and electronic health record management.
