About the role

Perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests across various medical disciplines to support clinical decision-making. Maintain laboratory equipment, conduct quality control, and report critical findings to clinical staff.

Job Summary Deliver accurate diagnostic laboratory testing and support clinical decision-making through timely processing and analysis of patient specimens.

Maintain laboratory instruments, perform quality control, and communicate results according to professional standards.

Number of Positions 3 Main Duties Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.

Collect, label, receive, and process patient specimens, ensuring proper handling, preservation, and chain of custody.

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and related equipment, and perform routine calibrations and preventive maintenance.

Conduct and document quality control procedures, participate in proficiency testing, and escalate deviations for investigation.

Record, validate, and report test results using laboratory information systems and communicate critical or urgent findings to clinical staff.

Adhere to biosafety, infection prevention, and regulatory procedures, and participate in continuous improvement and training activities.

Requirements

Completion of a recognized diploma or degree program in medical laboratory technology or equivalent education. Registration or certification with the appropriate provincial or national professional body where required. Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience or successful practicum placement in a clinical setting. Working knowledge of laboratory information systems, standard operating procedures, and documentation practices. Understanding of quality assurance, biosafety, hazardous materials handling, and infection control protocols. Ability to work rotating shifts, evenings, or weekends as needed and to manage workload effectively under time constraints. Required Skills Laboratory testing and specimen processing Operation and maintenance of clinical analyzers and diagnostic equipment Quality control, calibration, and troubleshooting Proficiency with laboratory information systems and accurate data entry Attention to detail and strong organizational skills Effective communication and teamwork with clinical and laboratory staff
