About the role

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and management of clients requiring therapy interventions. This includes establishing treatment goals, maintaining clinical records, and collaborating with health teams to ensure quality care.

JOB SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist, under the direction of the Director Therapy & Rehab, Manager of Rehab, or designate, is responsible for completion of professional activities that include: assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients requiring Occupational Therapy intervention, in accordance with professional standards. Clinical Responsibilities:

Responsible for the assessment of clients, establishment and ongoing evaluation and revision of treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans.

Maintains current accurate clinical records according to standards set by College of Occupational Therapists of applicable province. Documents assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress and discharge plans.

Collaborates with other members of the health team as needed.

Communicates pertinent information and recommendations to clients/care providers and provides education regarding treatment strategies as needed. Other Responsibilities

Maintain active standing in College of Occupational Therapists of applicable province.

Participate in ongoing internal and/or external education activities

Adhere to Bayshore Therapy & Rehab Policies and Procedures

Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System

Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.

Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel

Complete other tasks as requested REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Occupational Therapist reports to the Director Therapy & Rehabilitation, Manager of Rehab or designate as appropriate.

Education Masters Degree or recognized equivalent in Occupational Therapy.

Registered and in good standing with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario Experience Preference of three years providing Occupational Therapy services.

Experience with in-home assessments and treatments; knowledge of auto insurance and the legal system, particularly medical/legal report writing is an asset.

ADP is an asset.

Other Skills and Abilities Enjoy working with clients of all ages in multiple treatment environments.

Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills.

Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner.

Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.

Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email.

Commitment to continual learning.

Valid driver’s license.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE The Occupational Therapist must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by the regulating body, as well as agreed upon specific goals and objectives.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review if required.

Input will be sought from employees and consultants at the branch and National Service Centre as applicable

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. A preference for three years of experience, including in-home assessments and medical/legal report writing, is indicated.
