Provide care and management of mechanically ventilated patients in acute care areas (ICU, ED, Birthing Unit, Critical Care Unit, Medicine/Surgery units).
Assess and modify invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation according to Ventilation/Weaning guidelines.
Perform airway management including intubation and extubation.
Administer aerosolized medication and/or Meter Dose Inhaler (MDI).
Assess and intervene for patients at high risk for respiratory failure.
Manage tracheostomies.
Conduct home oxygen assessments.
Perform arterial punctures and blood withdrawal from arterial lines.
Insert arterial lines.
Assist with bronchoscopies and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures.
Transport high risk patients intra and inter-organization.
Provide neonatal respiratory management including neonatal resuscitation at high risk deliveries, mechanical ventilation, Nasal CPAP, oxygen therapy, and assistance with airway management
Current registration in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
Current BCLS.
Current ACLS.
Current NRP.
Previous experience in critical care (preferred).
