Our Mental Health Nurses (MHNs) provide Mental Health services to our client in a primary health care setting where they are responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, development and implementation of a care plans, crisis intervention, and counseling and life skills programming to the clients in the clinic.
An important part of this role is to provide counseling services in individual and/or group therapy sessions using CBT, DVT or motivational interview techniques. Candidates also need to be skilled in bio-psychosocial assessments and conducting medication management from inpatient and outpatient perspective.
Education / Qualifications
All Nurses - Mental Health must be Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses.
Registered Nurses must, as a minimum, possess:
A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university with either a certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA);
A Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice
Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary
Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C. Annual recertification is required.
Must be able to provide care in both English & French
Must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with a Baccalaureate degree and a certification in Mental Health Nursing. Requires three years of experience, BLS/CPR certification, and fluency in both English and French.
