The Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
Perinatal positions: completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course OR 1 year of recent (within last 2 years) acute perinatal experience.
Perinatal positions: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years.
MHSU positions: additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice where Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders are primary diagnosis.
Hip and Knee Clinic positions: two (2) years' recent related surgical and preadmission clinic experience OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
Organize work and implement a plan of care.
Demonstrate knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including administering medications.
Operate related equipment and physically carry out the duties of the position
