Population and Public Health Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant provincial legislation, nursing standards, BCCDC policies/standards, the code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), employer policies and individual competencies. Provides nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, guidelines and other controls on practice. Working in the community setting the Population and Public Health Registered Nurse provides testing and immunization services, education and promotion to clients, including individuals, families, groups and communities. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
Knowledge of current immunization practices (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
Valid BC Driver's License.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and cooperatively in a team setting.
Sound organizational, problem solving, teaching, judgment, and observation skills.
