Requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and a current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses. Must possess a valid Class G driver's license and the ability to work flexible hours including on-call shifts.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting vacancy for a temporary full-time Public Health Nurse to work on the Infectious Disease Control (IDC) team in the Environmental Health, Infectious Disease and Clinical Services division at our Citi Plaza location, London, Ontario. Under the direction of the Associate Manager, IDC, the incumbent will: Provide direct client care, including nursing assessment, treatment, education, counselling, consultation, referral, and advocacy; Investigate and manage cases and outbreaks involving diseases of public health significance and contacts in a timely, effective and efficient way; Coordinate care for individuals and families with complex needs; Maintain related health records, documentation and statistics; Document and maintain health records in a timely manner; Work collaboratively with peers, community agencies, families & individuals to enable them to enhance their health, to prevent & treat disease(s), and to improve the health of clients and priority populations; and, Perform other duties as assigned.
Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program (BScN). Current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO). Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call shifts. Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication & presentation skills. Ability to case manage while processing and applying significant amount of information accurately and quickly while working effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficient technical skills in the areas of documentation, Microsoft Office & database software. Possession of a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and use of a vehicle for work-related purposes. Experience with iPHIS or related Ministry database software is an asset. Knowledge and experience with infectious diseases, contact tracing and outbreak management, and with current clinical skills, is preferred. Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred. Experience in implementing health equity strategies and working with multicultural populations. Experience working with professional interpretation services is an asset. Communication proficiency (written and verbal) in French and/or any other language(s) is highly desirable. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $40.75 to $55.58, based on qualifications and experience.
