Social Worker MSW

This position involves working as part of a team of social workers providing inpatient and outpatient care within both the Obstetrics/Gynecolgy and Children%27s Hospital Programs. Patient care areas include: Labour and Delivery, Ward 4C (postpartum), 4B1 Clinic (high risk obstetrics and gynecology), 2F Clinic (Prenatal Diagnosis and general obstetrics), Ward 4B (antepartum/postpartum and gynecology), Women%27s ICU, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Intermediate Care Nursery. As a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, the Social Worker provides services including psychosocial screening and assessment; crisis intervention; bereavement counselling; identification of child welfare issues; liaison and referral to community agencies; adoption support; surrogacy support; support for uninsured patients; consultation; advocacy and education.

• Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work 2.
• Current certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers 3.
• Minimum 3 years recent experience with children and families in an tertiary care pediatric setting providing individual and family therapy 4.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and other related legislation 5.
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to adoption and issues of diversity and surrogacy 6.
• Minimum of 3 years of critical care experience preferred 7.
• Previous experience in providing bereavement crisis and counseling 8.
• Knowledge of Healthcare Consent Act 9.
• Knowledge of community resources and referral process 10.
• Demonstrated skills in the performance of a therapeutic role including strong assessment, counseling, case management, crisis intervention and advocacy skills 11.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment and to organize, prioritize and problem-solve effectively 12.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, consultation and teaching skills 13.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to an interprofessional model of care team utilizing Family centered care principles 13.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning
