  • $76,142.67 - $94,704.94 annually, which includes a 1 Grid Market Adjustment
  • Close Date 6/22/2026 Job Type Regular Full Time Temporary End Date Ministry/Organization BC Public Service -> Children & Family Development Ministry Branch / Division SDD Job Summary The Team Join a supportive and welcoming team committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth. The Guardianship/Permanency/Adoption team includes a Team Leader, four Guardianship Workers, 1.5 Adoption staff, and a SPO 21, blending fresh perspectives from new staff with the experience of long-standing team members. You’ll collaborate with other service delivery teams in the local Ministry office—such as Child Protection, Youth Probation, and Mental Health—to help ensure every child has a safe, stable, and permanent plan for their future. We value diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, and we foster an inclusive environment where everyone can grow, contribute, and feel they belong. The Role Guardianship Permanency Worker will guide and support children and youth through their time in care, creating and implementing plans that emphasize their safety, stability, and overall well-being. You will act as a strong advocate for their rights, recognize and celebrate their milestones, and work toward achieving lasting, meaningful permanency outcomes. You will also provide adoption-related services, offering support to children, adoptive families, and birth parents throughout the process. The Guardianship Permanency Worker position offers the opportunity to have a meaningful, lasting impact on young people’s lives while working within a diverse, inclusive team in a dynamic community that values your contributions and encourages your professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience Requirements Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements 1. Preferred Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved. NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered. 2. Expanded Credentials:

  • Experience working as a delegated Guardianship or Adoption Worker.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience. Please note:
  • Applicants may be considered who have not yet graduated but have completed all required courses and are able to provide a letter from their educational institution confirming completion of degree requirements.
