  • $90,774.07 - $103,579.21 annually, which includes a 4 Grid Market Adjustment
  • Close Date 6/17/2026 Job Type Regular Full Time Temporary End Date Ministry/Organization BC Public Service -> Children & Family Development Ministry Branch / Division Nanaimo CYMH Job Summary The Team The Nanaimo Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team is a dedicated group of Mental Health Clinicians from a variety of disciplines. We are made up of three smaller teams consisting of an Indigenous Serving Team, an Under 12 team and a Youth team. The teams see Children and Families from Ladysmith and Nanaimo area. The Nanaimo team is an active member of our local Integrated Child and Youth Team and has strong partnerships with the Integrated Child and Youth team members. Together, we bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to knowledge-sharing, working alongside Indigenous families and community partners to deliver wrap-around support. We provide a welcoming and respectful environment with regular opportunities for training and clinical discussions, empowering each team member to grow in their practice. We have a shared mission to foster wellness in the community through collaboration and mutual respect. The Role As a CYMH Integrated Practice Clinician on the CYMH team, you will have the opportunity to work with supportive and passionate care teams to make a meaningful positive difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families facing emotional and behavioral challenges. You will be working with a diverse group of professionals providing consultation, recommendation, assessment, treatment, and case management to children, youth, and families who are involved in the Ministry’s Child Safety, Family Support and Children in Care Services. This is a meaningful opportunity to play a vital role from a mental health perspective to support social workers in their decision making to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and youth.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience Requirements
  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered. NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Experience in providing direct interventions around the trauma-based behaviours of children and youth.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth and families providing mental health services.
  • Completion of formal post-graduate trauma training focusing on neurodevelopment, and attachment such as: Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Child Trauma Academy), and/or the Complex Trauma Certificate (JIBC).
  • Completed training in infant mental health and parent-child relational interventions and assessment tools such as: Watch, Wait and Wonder, The Circle of Security, and the AMBIANCE-Brief measure.
  • Experience facilitating presentations on trauma informed material to social workers, caregivers, educators, and other professionals involved in the care and treatment of complex children and youth.
  • Experience providing a variety of outreach and community-based work-related activities.
