What you’ll be doing
Working closely with nursing this position is directly accountable to the Occupational Therapist (OT) / Physio Therapist (PT) and Resident Program Manager. Implements the maintenance of patient programming under the direction of the OT/PT.
Communicate changes in resident abilities and function to the OT/PT, the unit nurses and the Nursing Rehab lead, to complete the program assigned.
Prepares apparatus and equipment required for the program.
Working closely with the wheelchair companies to ensure that the resident adaptive aids are safe and functional.
Help residents learn skills needed for daily living to improve or maintain resident’s abilities to function independently. They also assist in showing residents how to set up and use equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, and walkers.
What you bring
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Rehabilitation therapy aide or therapy assistant related field from a community college or university.
Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience preferable in Continuing Care but not essential.
Excellent Customer Service skills
Have a proven track record with fundraising within the experience
Experience working with computer applications such as RAI 2.0, Outlook, Word and Excel is an asset
Ability to work alone and with others while prioritizing tasks.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively within a variety of stressful situations and challenges and with various individuals or groups
Strong organizing, planning, prioritizing, time management and multi-tasking skills
