Must be a registered professional in good standing with a regulatory body (e.g., psychologist or social worker) and possess professional liability insurance. Experience with newcomers, refugees, and multilingual environments is preferred.
Action for Healthy Communities Society of Alberta (AHC) is seeking qualified Mental Health Service Providers to deliver short-term, culturally responsive, trauma-informed counselling services through its Mental Health Clinic.
AHC is a provincial non-profit organization established in 1995, dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing and resilience of diverse communities across Alberta through settlement, community development, education, and health initiatives. Key Responsibilities
1. Direct Client Services · Conduct intake-informed assessments and develop service plans with clients · Deliver short-term individual counselling (typically 4+ sessions per client) · Support client engagement and completion of treatment goals · Identify needs for referral to external services where appropriate
2. Group & Psychoeducational Services · Design and facilitate group sessions and workshops · Incorporate culturally responsive and creative approaches · Collaborate with AHC leadership on program design and delivery · Provide outcome summaries following group sessions
3. Indirect Client & Program Support · Participate in case consultations and integrated service meetings · Provide referrals and follow-ups with external providers · Develop psychoeducational content (e.g., resources, videos) · Support program coordination and service logistics
Documentation & Reporting · Maintain accurate case notes, service plans, and records in AHC’s digital platform · Complete required intake, consent, and risk assessment documentation prior to service delivery · Upload documentation within required timelines · Submit monthly non-identifying service reports · Ensure compliance with Alberta privacy legislation and professional standards
Service Delivery Model · Short-term therapy model (typically 60-minute sessions) · Up to approximately 80 sessions depending on referrals and demand · Services delivered: · Virtually via approved platforms · In-person at designated confidential AHC locations
& Requirements · Current registration and good standing with a recognized professional regulatory body (e.g., psychologist, clinical social worker, counsellor, therapist) · Professional liability insurance · Experience delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive services · Preferred Experience · Working with newcomers, refugees, and diverse populations · Providing services in multilingual or interpreted environments · Delivering both individual and group-based mental health supports
