Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. As a member of the patient care team, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic data, therapeutic intervention, and ensures the safe and appropriate application of a variety of respiratory equipment.

Qualifications

• Education, Training And Experience Graduation from a recognised Respiratory Therapy program and eligible for registered membership with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Life Support "C" Certificate required, Instructor's Certificate an asset. Skills And Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions in emergency situations and establish priorities.
• Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
