Position Summer : We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Supportive Roommate to provide full-time residential support to a 41-year-old individual with complex developmental and mental health needs.

The individual has been diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), moderate developmental disability, epilepsy, obsessive–compulsive behaviours, and anxiety.

He requires structured and consistent support to maintain daily routines and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide daily support, including but not limited to: Prompting and assisting with personal care routines such as: Showering Oral hygiene Changing clothing Providing verbal reminders and occasional hands-on (hand-over-hand) support Assisting with: Meal preparation Household chores Financial management Supporting scheduling, coordination, and attendance of: Medical appointments Dental appointments Assisting with understanding and following through on professional recommendations Ensuring consistency in daily routines and structure What to Expect in the Environment A structured and predictable daily routine is essential The individual responds best to: Clear expectations Consistent support Routine-based environments Ongoing collaboration with support teams and service providers Due to the individual taking city transit for medical appointments and for his community access program, and requiring support with time management, it would be preferred for the candidate not to have a daytime job.

Mandatory / Non-Negotiable Requirements Supportive roommate must be: Male and/or a matriarchal female presence Preference will be given to a couple.

Home requirements: Located in the Northwest (NW) quadrant of the city No children present in the home Must be easily accessible by city transit.

Bedroom for the individual must be on the same level as the Supportive Roommate No legal basement suites permitted Minimum Requirements: Minimum of a Diploma or Certificate in the Human Services field or Disability Sector Must have valid class 5 drivers license and a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance Provide Home insurance and Commercial Liability insurance One to two years relevant experience in the human services field Intermediate in computer skills Minimum required training in Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A Willing to make appropriate modifications for the individual’s access requirements in the home Home visit & assessment required Preferred Requirements: Previously trained in and have experience with medication administration Other current and relevant trainings such as Non-violent Crises Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behavior Supports, etc.

Additional training requirements may include Mental Health Compensation: Supportive Roommate Rate: $3,642.41 per month.

Respite Compensation: $1,500 per month ($250 per 24-hour day for 6 days per month).

Requirements
