Responsible for operating MRI and accessory equipment to perform medical diagnostic procedures. Duties include screening patients for safety, positioning, image post-processing, and maintaining a safe MRI environment.
Requires graduation from a recognized Medical Radiation Technology school and registration with CAMRT and NSCMIRTP. Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and demonstrate strong technical decision-making skills.

The MRI Technologist, under the general supervision of the area supervisor and department manager is responsible for the operation of the MRI and accessory equipment requiring minimum supervision, independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Performing MRI procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis including: assessing requisitions for appropriate examinations; obtaining pertinent history and screening patients for MRI safety and possible contrast reactions, providing patient care and monitoring of patients, selecting techniques and positioning patients; post-processing acquired images, maintaining an MRI safe environment and providing MRI safety education, practicing sterile techniques when required; and performance of clerical duties related to the care of the patient including ensuring the accuracy and transfer of data to PACS.
75 hours biweekly, plus rotational standby and callback.
