The Occupational Therapist conducts assessments of daily living activities, behavior, and motor function to support adults facing mental health challenges. They collaborate with formal and informal services to facilitate recovery, provide social and educational support, and manage a caseload of assigned clients.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). Experience working in community settings with adults suffering from serious mental illness and substance use challenges is preferred.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist on our South Simcoe, Assertive Community Treatment Team.
Permanent, Full-Time working 35 hours per week. Evenings & Weekends may be required

The Occupational Therapist will be working primarily in our Alliston office at 35 Victoria St E, Alliston ON L9R 1T3 and out in the community/ client visits with regular travel in York Region & South Simcoe required. The Occupational Therapist can expect to work in office at minimum 3 days a week, and work in a hybrid manner (in community or work from home) as program needs and allows.
The Occupational Therapist (OT) works with clients to complete assessments in the areas of daily living activities, behavior and emotion, and where required, motor coordination, sensory and perceptual motor function, and visual perception. The OT assists clients to minimize distressing or disruptive feelings and behaviors, help to build resilience, and attain their goals and aspirations. The Occupational Therapist will also collaborate with a range of formal and informal services, refer members to external resources, and may also participate in case conferences and systemic initiatives to improve availability, accessibility, and equity of resources.
The OT facilitates and supports recovery for adults facing mental health challenges through empowerment and respect by providing a range of social, educational, and recreational services.
The Occupational Therapist caseload varies depending on the client's needs, best practice guidelines, capacity and program priorities, and service standards. Occupational Therapists will often carry a case load of assigned clients.
In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships. The OT may be assigned to different programs as required based on need.
