Independently carry out prescribed rehabilitation therapy programs to assist clients with movement and daily functioning in community and residential settings. Responsibilities include preparing equipment, implementing exercise plans, and documenting client progress for the supervising Physiotherapist.
Candidates must be graduates of a PTA/OTA course with current CPR and First Aid certifications obtained in Canada. A clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS) and 1-2 years of experience with elderly populations are preferred.
Working under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist, as a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will independently carry out prescribed rehabilitation therapy programs to assist clients to cope with their limitations in movement, daily functioning, and activity. Assist the supervising Physiotherapist by performing various components of the treatment plan including gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, plus application of modalities (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS) as prescribed by the Physiotherapist for clients within a Retirement or residential setting Provide clear, timely communication to the supervising Physiotherapist and other appropriate Health Care team members regarding changes to or concerns of the client’s status, interventions or activities Properly maintain and document regarding client activities, progress and treatment plans consistent with ParaMed’s policies. What you bring: Graduate of a PTA/OTA course from a recognized post-secondary program 1-2 years of PTA experience with elderly populations is preferred Ability to effectively communicate both through oral and written mediums Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS) Current CPR and First Aid (within 1 year) obtained within Canada Demonstrate compassion, tact and diplomacy when interacting with residents/clients and their families.
