  • Type: Combination Come work as a Psychiatrist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Join our collaborative team as a General Psychiatrist and experience the beautiful, dynamic community of the Sunshine Coast. The successful applicant would work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical treatment team providing direct assessments for patients, clients, and their families. This role will include acute inpatient care; emergency room; consultation liaison, but will also include general outpatient services and community settings. Services will include in person work as well as virtual work. Furthermore, regular outreach will be provided to Powell River at qathet hospital in person and virtually in their inpatient unit; consultation liaison and emergency room. Sechelt Hospital is a 36-bed acute care hospital serving the Sunshine Coast. The hospital provides acute medical, surgical (general surgery, cataracts, endoscopy, urology, and gynecology), and obstetrical inpatient/outpatient services, supported by laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation services. It is also home to an 8-bed critical care unit. Mental Health and Addictions Services are structured with an integrated multidisciplinary team approach. Sechelt Hospital supports a 6-bed inpatient Psychiatric Unit for the Sunshine Coast. Successful candidate may be eligible for rural retention program benefits.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current license with the College of Physicians of BC and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is also mandatory.
