Provide direct nursing care to residents at the Benevolence Care Centre. Ensure clinical standards are met while supporting the health and well-being of patients.
Must be a licensed practical nurse with relevant clinical experience. Ability to work in a casual capacity within a healthcare facility is required.
The Licensed Practical Nurse is an integrated member of the interdisciplinary care team and is responsible for providing direct Resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), the Continuing Competency Program (CCP), and as noted in the Collaborative Care Model. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care and adheres to the Park Place Seniors Living Policy and Procedure Manual. The Licensed Practical Nurse functions independently and works under the guidance of the Resident Care Manager to further provide leadership, support and direction to Health Care Aides on an ongoing basis. Responsible for current and valid registration.
Professional Responsibilities Serves as an advocate to ensure that the Resident’s needs are met. Participates in research, in-service classes’ onsite and off, Staff development and orientation when required. Adherence to Professional and Care Centre protocols, practices and standards. To ensure that their practice meets the legislative requirements and College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta Standards of Practice.

Education and Training: Graduate from an accredited School of Licensed Practical Nurses. Current CPR and First Aid is required.
Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta.
The LPN position requires a significant amount of lifting, walking, reaching, bending, pushing, standing and sitting. In an average day the employee spends 2 to 6 hours standing or walking. Lifts a maximum of 50 lbs., frequent lifting and/or carrying of 20 lbs. Must be able to manage stressful work situations with dexterity.
Radiation: Minimal
Ergonomics, slips/trips/falls and psychological related to providing care to Residents.
A minimum of five years’ experience as an LPN is preferred. Previous experience in Mental Health, Geriatrics or Long-Term Care preferred.
