The nurse will perform initial assessments, administer medications, and provide health education to clients within a substance use and mental health treatment setting. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate medical records, managing supplies, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.

We need strong nurses who are experienced and interested in working directly with clients who are being treated for substance use disorders and mental health stabilization.

While performing your day-to-day nursing duties, you will perform very little to no bedside care!

This is not medical surgical nursing, ICU, or a critical care position, however, our clients do come to us at a critical time of need, and we need excellent nurses who are willing to critically think, follow policy and procedures, and work as part of a team.

Gaudenzia's Mission

Gaudenzia's Mission is to promote long-term recovery by providing comprehensive treatment and support to people with substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health disorders, and related conditions, regardless of individual circumstances.

Compensation

LPN $27.59-$30.00

RN $40.69- $46.50

Shift: 2nd (3pm thru 11pm)

Qualifications

Education/Training

Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing. Must have good standing license (LPN or RN) valid in the state in which clinical will practice. Must also possess current CPR Certification.

Experience

Substance Use Disorder and/or Mental Health/Co-occurring Disorders experience is strongly preferred!

LPN 1

May be recent graduate of approved nursing school with up to one (1) year experience.

LPN 2: Two (2) to five (5) years nursing experience, with one (1) year in addictions, mental health, or related specialty.

LPN 3: Five (5) or more years nursing experience, with two (2) years in addictions, mental health, or related specialty

RN 1

May be recent graduate of approved nursing school with up to one (1) year experience.

RN 2: Two (2) to five (5) years nursing experience, with one (1) year in addictions, mental health, or related specialty.

Your responsibilities in this role may include

  • Perform initial nursing assessment for clients within 24 hours of admission in accordance with established program policies and state regulation.
  • Arrange appropriate appointments with Health Care Providers to secure complete physical examinations, as well as required additional health screenings and supplemental tests.
  • Administer medications, as well supervise the self-administered medications, where appropriate and allowed by regulation.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and accurate records of same in compliance with governing regulations and agency policy.
  • Counsel clients on nutrition, health care, self-care, symptom management etc.
  • Ensure that clients have appropriate medical coverage to guarantee safety, adequate care, and provider compliance for payment.
  • Ensure proper storage of supplies as required by regulation.
  • Assist in the facilitation of special events, including, but not limited to: staff training, staff retreat, workshops and facility events.
  • Implement health seminars, including, but not limited to: HIV/AIDS, nutrition, medication education, infectious diseases, mental health, etc.
  • Participate in treatment/multidisciplinary team meetings, as directed.
  • Implement and assure adherence to infection control policies and practices.
  • Provide education for clients regarding health, nutrition, safety, and medication compliance.
  • Maintain LPN license with good standing.
  • Other related duties as assigned by Nurse Manager or designee.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work rotating weekends including one off shift per week to ensure program coverage.
  • May be required to work shifts outside of assigned shifts during critical staffing shortages.
  • The minimum holiday requirement is 1 major summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and 1 major winter
