The Clinical Dietitian provides dietetic services through the assessment, planning, and evaluation of nutritional goals within a patient-centred care model. They collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team and participate in practice-based research projects.
Applicants must hold current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). A valid BC driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are also required for this role.
Education & Experience Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). RA- A & C: Demonstrated competency in compounding and administering a therapeutic diet by enteral instillation required (formerly known as Restricted Activity A and C). Although separate restricted activity declarations are no longer required under HPOA, these competencies remain essential and ongoing to this role. Applicants requiring competency development are strongly encouraged to disclose this information for appropriate support and mentorship upon hire. Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care. Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations. Broad knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a patient and family centred model of care. Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Broad knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition. Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care. Broad knowledge of research process and methodology. Demonstrated ability to assess patient responses to care plan, and to respond appropriately. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, patients and their families, and external agencies. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to patient/family priorities. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations and adjust to new or unexpected events. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, problem-solve, and think critically. Demonstrated ability to teach and provide effective consultation. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas. Demonstrated ability to operate a computerized patient information system. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Closing Statement The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review CheckAs per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
