About the role

The physician will provide GP-OSS services as part of the Squamish maternity team and participate in a shared operative obstetrics call schedule. Responsibilities include providing emergency obstetric assessment, intervention, and additional surgical support aligned with training and scope of practice.

Job Summary Come work as a General Practice with Obstetrical Surgical Skills (OSS) with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Squamish General Hospital is seeking a dedicated GP-OSS physician to join our collegial and collaborative maternity care team.

You will be part of a supportive group sharing a 1:3 call schedule with a GP Surgeon and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.

SGH manages approximately 400 births annually and operates as a Level 2 BC Maternal and Neonatal Tier of Service site, with cases under 36 weeks’ gestation referred to tertiary centres.

Key Responsibilities Provide GP OSS services as part of the Squamish maternity team Participate in shared operative obstetrics call schedule Provide emergency obstetric assessment and intervention when required Provide additional surgical or emergency procedure support aligned with your training and scope of practice This is an excellent opportunity for a GP OSS physician who values rural operative obstetrics and a lifestyle that balances meaningful clinical work with world class outdoor recreation.

This position offers a negotiable start date, with preference for an earlier start to support ongoing care.

Squamish General Hospital is a 25 bed acute care facility providing medical, surgical, emergency, ambulatory, inpatient, maternity, anesthetic, and general surgery services.

The hospital is supported by diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, along with physiotherapy and social work.

SGH plays a central role in caring for the rapidly growing Sea to Sky corridor.

Squamish offers an exceptional quality of life, with mountains and ocean at your doorstep and year round access to climbing, hiking, biking, paddling, and skiing.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Desired Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Mandatory Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory Obstetric Experience – Mandatory Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL) - Desired Surgical Skills – Mandatory Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Mandatory OSS/ESS – Mandatory Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) – Desired Closing Statement Interested in applying? Requirements

Candidates must hold a current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) license, CCFP certification, and CMPA coverage. Mandatory qualifications include obstetric experience, surgical skills, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
