The Operating Room Assistant facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures under the supervision of the Clinical Manager. This involves ensuring the operating/procedural room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and procedures maximize patient safety.
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of HCA/Nursing Assistant/Operating Room Aid experience in an acute care setting, preferably in the Operating Room or Surgical Setting. A minimum of Grade 12 education and successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course are required, along with mandatory enrollment in and completion of the Operating Room Assistant Course.

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Operating Room Assistant works in collaboration with regulated healthcare team members to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating/procedural room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective bargaining agreement.
