The Indigenous Patient Navigator is responsible for providing day-to-day health system navigation support to create safe environments for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit clients and their families, while ensuring care is delivered in a culturally safe and respectful manner. This involves liaising with clients, primary care teams, and community agencies, and influencing program development through the patient experience process.
Candidates must have two to three years of recent, related experience working with Indigenous communities in British Columbia, preferably with a Bachelor's degree in healthcare, Social Work, or Nursing. Key requirements include comprehensive knowledge of providing culturally safe care, deep understanding of Indigenous Peoples' history, and demonstrated ability to recognize healthcare system gaps and power inequities affecting Indigenous individuals.
