The Employed Student Nurse provides direct nursing care to both stable and unstable patients, residents, or clients, appropriate to the level of education and training received in their nursing program. This role offers up to 400 hours of hands-on clinical experience with pay, supported by ESN educators and unit staff to facilitate the transition to a new graduate nurse.

In British Columbia, mNPRs are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) and health organizations.

Applicants must have successfully completed the 2nd year of their BScN program or equivalent, including at least one Adult Medical or Surgical rotation, and must remain continually enrolled and in good standing in a recognized BC nursing program. Candidates must also be registered (or eligible for registration) as an Employed Student Registrant with BCCNM and hold Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
