The Personal Support Worker will provide companionship, respite services, and mental stimulation activities for clients, often those with Dementia, in private homes or retirement facilities. Essential functions also include performing homemaking duties such as cleaning, changing linens, and doing laundry.
Various shifts, Monday to Friday and weekends, days and nights.
Timing varies in accordance to wishes of family.
The PSW will be looking after one client in a private home or retirement home in the North York area.

Essential
Functions:
PSW/Companion/Sitter/Household Management
Provide companionship and respite services for family.
Provide mental stimulation for Dementia clients (do activities such as cognitive games, music, arts, sensory activities, reminiscence therapy).
Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, oral care, toileting, grooming).
Maintain a consistent schedule and routine.
Provide clear and simple communication in a pleasant manner.
Perform homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms.
Maintain a safe environment.
Medication Services
Assist with medication reminders that the client self-administers
Meal Preparation
Food Handler's Certificate - an Asset
Able to cook meals tailored to client's diet choices
Social Skills
Energetic and outwardly positive person.
Capable of supervising physical and mental exercise routines.
What we're looking for:
Qualifications/Educational
Requirements:
Dementia Care experience is a requirement.
Ability to use an APP to enter clinical notes and login and logout.
Successful completion of a Provincial-approved Personal Support Worker certificate.
At least six months experience as a Caregiver (in homes or facilities).
Has a Police Vulnerable Sector Reference Check or willing to obtain within 6 months.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
Ability to do light-cleaning and lifting (transferring clients, repositioning, and laundry).
Hoyer lift trained
Able to cook meals tailored to client's diet choices.
Candidates must possess a Provincial-approved Personal Support Worker certificate and have at least six months of Caregiver experience, with Dementia Care experience being a requirement. Applicants must also be able to use an application for clinical notes and must have or be willing to obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Reference Check.
