The Nurse Practitioner blends in-depth nursing knowledge with legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform procedures for managing acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. Practice involves evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, disease prevention, and building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and have three years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse, along with two years of advanced RN (NP) experience in an applicable area, preferably in Primary Health Care and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). A valid Class 5 driver's license and registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) are mandatory.

The Primary Health Nurse Practitioner RN(NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN(NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes community needs assessments; supporting inter-professional collaboration; and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.
