The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides advanced nursing care specializing in pediatrics, including health assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic management. The PNP works collaboratively with families and communities to promote health and prevent disease.
Candidates must have a Master's Degree in Nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Designation and at least five years of general nursing experience, including three years in pediatrics. A valid Class 5 driver's license and CPR-HCP certification are also required.

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge & skills gained through additional education and experience specializing in pediatrics. The PNP blends an in-depth knowledge of advanced health assessment & diagnosis, therapeutic management with the legal authority & autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals & perform specific procedures in the management & treatment of common acute pediatric illnesses & stable chronic conditions. The PNP practices within a framework of evidence-based practice, health promotion, & disease & injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals/families, & communities, including supporting inter-professional collaboration & continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. The PNP will be based out of the Pediatric Inpatient Department but will also function in outpatient & community settings.
