Overview

Provide direct patient care to clients of the Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC), Patient Medical Homes / Family Physician / Nurse Practitioner Clinics, or an Island Health Primary Care Clinic. Practice in accordance with professional standards and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) code of ethics. Deliver client and family-centered care with cultural humility using a trauma-informed and evidence-informed approach. Conduct initial client assessments and provide health promotion, interventions, and health coaching/teaching based on client needs and urgency. Facilitate and manage client transitions across the healthcare continuum to optimize care and support prevention of avoidable hospital admissions and emergency department presentations. Collaborate with the client, the Primary Care team, and other health care services to support client care planning and information flow across settings. Overview

Plan and provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients in the hospital in accordance with unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, and policies. Provide care in accordance with national, provincial, regional, and local obstetrical guidelines and BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice. Overview

Transport/escort clients to and from required areas using stretchers and wheelchairs. Move, set up, and position equipment within operating room suites. Assist nursing and technical staff with lifting, positioning, and transferring clients. Maintain supplies for designated areas in a high-volume operating room environment. Clean equipment and storage areas as required. Pick up and deliver equipment, supplies, and other items as assigned. Operate a facsimile and/or photocopier as required
